Indigenous Playing Shirt

Posted 4:20pm, Tuesday 21 May 2019

In support of NAIDOC week (7th - 14th July) the club will be wearing an Indigenous playing shirt which has been designed specifically for our club.

The story behind the design;

Mt Gravatt (Kaggur Madul – ‘Echidna Mountain’) is situated on the land of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera and Turrbal peoples and is known for its echidna quills, used in sewing cloaks.

It is a massive resource zone for Ironbark and Blue gum used to make canoes.

Mt Gravatt/ Nathan has marked ceremonial/ dance/ burial sites for the indigenous community.

By using some of the Blue Gum and Hunting or Dance sites as inspiration, the shirt design incorporates indigenous images of Echidna foot prints diagonally across the shirt with a large echidna on the front of the shirt.

The shirt is available for purchase via our new online Merchandise Store for $30.00 and we would love to see everyone wearing one.

Orders are being taken now. Get yours here!
